In the House of Commons Lieutenant Colonel T. L. C. M. Ry, secretary for the Home Office, stated the government is contemplating abolition of rubber restrictions after a recent heavy fall in rubber prices and supply.
Tommy Armour of Washington, selected professional at Congressional Country Club, defeated Harry Cooper of Los Angeles 78 to 79 in an 18 hole playoff to claim the United States Open title at Oakmont. Armour clinched victory on the tenth green with a par three hole out, after Cooper was trapped and errored badly. final scores show Armour 76 Cooper 74.
President Calvin Coolidge raced from Rapid City to the state game lodge in a 52 mile drive. A severe hail storm struck Rapid City, shattering windows and denting cars, while Coolidge’s route escaped the worst as he neared the mountains. He resumed contact with Washington later in the executive offices set up in a local school building.

Topeka, June 17 AP The supreme court will decide whether a father or grandfather should have custody of four year old Raymond Edward Hollis. Fred Hollis of Salinas returns his son after the mother’s death in April. The child has been in the grandfather’s care since then following probate court proceedings.

Fals a Okla June 17 APF John Ball of West Tulsa died from a head wound early today, said to be inflicted Wednesday. His widow Ruth Ball was charged with murder after an alleged confession released by county officers. She had a near collapse upon learning of the death and is described as a 26 year old mother of an 18 month old child.

Leavenworth Kansas June 17 A P 1 Theodore Ossweiler once confined as a dangerous insane prisoner at Kansas penitentiary is to be returned to Wichita for a new trial on the murder charge against Miss Cunningham. Sedgwick county officials expect transfer when caretakers reach Lansing. time not set. Ossweiler, educated for the priesthood and once a Passionist novitiate, shot Miss Cunningham on the steps of St. Gathedral Wichita after a morning mass in 1920. He was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to forty years at hard labor.
The body identified as John L. Atkins of Bartlesville after deputies from Tulsa County investigated a fatal shooting at a hen shed near Collinsville during the early hours of the morning. The confirmation came from Gillespie of Nowata County, relayed by Deputy Sheriff Mayfield.

Barnett 41, a timber man, is jailed after police say he killed his wife 43 while she prepared breakfast. He admitted the act but gave no motive. Witnesses include three children who say he threatened them. Police report a broken skull and revolver bullets used, with two shots discharged. Barnett reportedly injured in a fall at the Teachers College library, said to affect his mental state. The couple planned to move to Kansas City, Missouri.

A restraining order halted construction of a public garage on west Eighth Avenue opposite the state executive mansion. Judge George H. Whitcomb issued the order at the request of the state executive council against D. N. Wade, owner of the site. The court will decide if the order becomes a permanent injunction and whether a garage near the mansion would be a public nuisance.
