Law increases fines for indecent broadcasts
President Bush signed legislation to raise the maximum FCC fine for indecent radio and TV broadcasts tenfold to 325000 per incident. The law aims to curb sexually explicit material on air, reflecting a two year push after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident and CBS penalties. The FCC has recently fined CBS affiliates 3.3 million for an Without a Trace episode simulating an orgy, now under review.
