Obama to propose tighter controls for banks
President Obama plans a sweeping overhaul of U S financial regulation to create a permanent, expansive framework across banking lending and investing shaking up agency powers. The plan targets four weaknesses in the system including lack of a federal stress detector, unwinding large institutions, unregulated markets and consumer debt seeking to curb risk while defining new oversight and possible mergers.
