Low census response rates in southwest Kansas

Kansas organizers push to boost counts in Morton Stanton Haskell and Lane counties where only 15% to 30% of residents have returned census forms. Overall self response is 64.8%, with outreach through Johnson City, Liberal radio, and a $500,000 grant to the League of Kansas Municipalities to mail ads and encourage completion.

Body found in search for missing Wichita woman

Volunteers found a woman's body along railroad tracks south of Wichita while searching for Savannah Schneider, 23, who disappeared May 31 after leaving her home on May 31 and was reported missing June 4. The body, not yet identified, was found near Haysville after cadaver dogs had previously searched the area.
