Downtown Drug Store Changes Name Pending Suit

Owners Kim Kern and Jane Glotzbach of The Drug Store 706 Mass change the name by removing the word drug while a Shawnee County District Court suit proceeds. Douglas County Attorney Mike Malone had warned of misdemeanor charges over use of drug store or pharmacy names without a full-time registered pharmacist. A temporary restraining order was lifted and the case moved to Shawnee County after arguments on venue. The stipulation keeps the name change voluntary during the civil case and bars criminal prosecution meanwhile.
