Lecompton Chooses Between Two Whitfield Street Bids
Lecompton City Council will select between two bids for blacktopping Whitfield Street. Mayor William J. Smith says both bids are acceptable, with property owners paying about 75 cents per foot on their side if the lower bid wins. City maintenance funds cover street preparation and materials. The Dust Committee, a group of local property owners, brought the proposal.
