New U S 59 in Douglas County moves toward finish
The Kansas Department of Transportation says the 5.53 mile four lane U S 59 freeway from south Lawrence to the Douglas County line is on track for completion in late 2012. Crews have graded the route east of current U S 59 and cleared most of the 5.6 million cubic yards of material.
