Rates rise draw interest of group
Washington AP The National Council for Low Interest Rates says rising rates trap government and corporations in a cycle of borrowing to pay interest. The report notes government and corporate interest payments nearly doubled 1978–1981, draining tax revenues and diverting funds from infrastructure to financial institutions and pensions. It warns that firms borrow more to cover interest, starving nonfinancials of capital for modernization.

Judge halts disputed antenna sales in Minneapolis
A federal judge ordered eight local stores to stop selling or advertising antennas that let homeowners receive HBO signals without paying. The injunction, issued by U.S. District Judge Earl Larson, lasts until a trial decides the legality. Movie Systems Inc. and TVQ filed suit in April, claiming the antennas are illegal. TVQ's Kilian welcomed the ruling as a push toward paid HBO conversions, while Shapiro said they will seek an expedited trial to continue the case.
