C10 Nails Down At GM Plan Won At Ford Session
DETROIT The CIO United Auto Workers nailed down at General Motors the same wage plan won a week earlier at Ford. Walter Reuther, UAW president, established the employer-paid supplementary unemployment benefit system in the auto industry. The three year agreement came after 37 hours of bargaining with walkouts at over 40 of GM s 119 plants. The pact mirrors Ford with pay, pensions, vacations and holidays, adds a full union shop for GM, covers 375,000 UAW wage earners, plus 35,000 CIO IUE workers on identical terms. Reuther called it far reaching and costing GM 600 million over three years. Curtice said it insured three more years of labor peace.

Approximately 2,123 students enrolled for Kansas University eight week summer session as classes opened. Warming and Rain Forecast for Kansas
The forecast calls for slightly warmer temperatures and more showers and thunderstorms across Kansas tonight and Tuesday. Meteorologist Richard Garrett said storms will start in the northwest and extreme west, spreading statewide by morning, then reappearing in western areas Tuesday afternoon. Western Kansas saw a warming trend with Garden City and Goodland reaching 81, while Topeka hit 62, the state's June 12 low in the capital. Goodland fell to 49 last night.
