Springfield Mass June 13 Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co filed two suits in Hampden Superior Court to recover life insurance on Frank Krol of Ludlow. The company alleges false statements in the application and that Krol had no life interests. Detectives broaden probe into a series of suspicious Ludlow deaths tied to heavy outsider insurance.
Gene Venzke of Pennsylvania edged Glenn Cunningham in the Princeton Invitational mile at Princeton University finishing in 4 minutes 13.4 seconds. Cunningham led most of the mud soaked race with a two yard margin entering the final stretch before Venzke surged in the last 20 yards to win. Bill Bonthron, a former Princeton star, faded to fourth behind Bill Daly of the University of Detroit.
Douglas County begins wheat harvest with many fields ready and plans to press ahead next week if dry weather holds. Some early cutting occurred in the south due to hinch bugs. Rye harvest and some oats are also starting. yields are expected to be strong though possibly below expectations.

Davis’s Chevrolet coupe lightly damaged. Maddox taken home by ambulance. his condition not considered serious. Davis went home by friend.
