Red and White Motor Tags Chosen for Kansas Cars
Topeka announces the 1925 Kansas motor license tags will use white letters on a red background. Secretary of State Frank J. Ryan approved the design after a St. Louis firm won the contract to produce around 400,000 tags. Initial plans favored crimson and blue with white letters to reflect the University of Kansas colors, but extra colors would raise costs. Kansas has issued motor vehicle tags for 13 years and next year will first feature the red color scheme.
