University Building Work Attracts City Attention

Real estate activity totaled 10 434 yesterday with several bids on a chemistry building at the University. MN McParlang won the contract for 10500, to be completed by November 1. A large crowd gathered on the bridge to watch the rising river as driftwood and water banged the dam. A birthday party for John Moran occurred at Mrs Garritty’s residence with a nice lunch and a new gift for Moran. A minor police case of disturbing the peace was heard and a man paid 75 dollars on a shop incident involving shoes and a mistaken wrapping.

Hillsboro man jailed for killing in county

Branson Gipson was jailed after admitting to shooting Sandy Nichols in Nichols cabin Sunday afternoon in Uarms, Hillsboro county. The case follows a preliminary investigation by local authorities and was reported from Hillsboro, U. on June 12.

The Indian Campaign report from Crook's expedition

A June dispatch from Tombstone Arizona details Crook's movement from Silver Creek to the Chihuahua Sonora boundary. Crook, guided by Apache captive Nandoski, marches 500 miles over rough terrain toward the Sierra Madre range and advances about 200 miles south of the boundary before the line is crossed.

Indian Chiefs Captured After Sierra Madre Raid

Apache camp at Uhat and Bonite in the Sierra Madre was surrounded by San Carlos scouts and U.S. forces. Chiefs Chato Bonita Garnomimo Nachez Lovo and Vana were taken, 383 prisoners captured, 100 ponies and 40 loaded with plunder seized. One six-year-old boy thought to be Charles McComas may be with the chiefs. Crook’s command returned to Silver Creek unharmed.
