Topeka Lieutenant Killed in Vietnam Action
First Lt. Kerry E. Hess 23, son of Topeka residents, was killed June 5 near the Cambodian border with the 1st Airborne Cavalry Division. A KU alumnus, he studied mechanical engineering at Kansas University and was promoted to first lieutenant in Vietnam. Funeral services pending. survivors include his widow Marie Meglen Hess and two Topeka brothers.
