LMH Health becomes the state’s first hospital to offer the VotER voter registration initiative in its emergency department. The online program, introduced by Kristin Salmans of the Lawrence/Douglas County League of Women Voters, targets nonemergency visitors who are often people of color, the poor, and the young. Visitors need a phone to register via QR scan or text, with no staff involvement and no partisan guidance. VotER originated at Massachusetts General Hospital and is now a joint effort with Harvard Kennedy School.
