The Lawrence District 497 school board unanimously ratified a tentative teacher contract reached last week. Teachers are expected to ratify before the June 23 board meeting. A large Lawrence Education Assn. meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Lawrence High will vote on the pact.
KU chancellor Archie Dykes said he has declined offers from two major universities and has no interest in other positions. He praised loyalty to KU and its people and will stay as long as the state wants him. Unified School District 348 filled all certified staff positions for 1975 76 with Charles Holvert as debate and English teacher and John Carr as industrial arts teacher and assistant wrestling and football coach. The board honored three retiring members Wilfred Selzer Henrietta Schoepflin and Orvil Pohl. A donation of property for a city baseball complex was discussed but no decision made.
More than 400 reservations for the June 14 bicentennial ball and colonial dinner at the Free State Opera House push toward 500. Organizer Joan Moffett said 416 reservations were recorded Monday night. Proceeds go to the Douglas County Bicentennial Commission as locals don colonial dress and celebrate U S Army 200th anniversary and Flag Day with a parade, platform ceremonies, and a Stars and Stripes revue.

The Lawrence Arts Commission will present nine recommended board members to the City Commission tonight as the permanent Lawrence Arts Center Board of Directors.
