King and Queen of Britain Visit New York Fair

King George VI and Queen Elizabeth toured the New York World’s Fair amid huge crowds and thick security. The royal couple viewed exhibits, met Grover Whalen, and attended a luncheon at Pedylon hall before continuing to Hyde Park for a retreat with President Roosevelt.

Roosevelts Welcome King and Queen at Hyde Park Visit

Opening Summer Concert Draws Large Local Crowd

A big crowd attended the Liberty Memorial high school band concert in Southpark last evening directed by Oliver Hobbs. Hobbs said this season’s band is the largest yet with about 80 pieces and more attendees than last year. The next concert is Friday at 8 in the park. Severe Kansas City storm damages trees and lines

A wind driven storm struck Kansas City at 1 45 this morning bringing wind gusts to 85 miles per hour at the airport and dropping 2 70 inches of rain. The system damaged trees windows power and communication lines and flooded scattered low areas across the metro.
