Hunter Elder eighty, a Fort Riley soldier, lies seriously wounded in a Topeka hospital from a head bullet. Mrs Alma Burnett, who hosted Elder, is detained by police. She says she heard a shot and found him wounded. Police doubt her account and have not filed charges.
E R Kemp of Tulsa Oklahoma chairman of the board of Sinclair Oil and Gas Co and a director of Sinclair Consolidated Oil Co died in Roosevelt hospital after an appendicitis operation begun Tuesday He was 41 years old and is survived by a widow and three children

Early this morning a motor truck rammed a chute at John North’s hog house near Tonganoxie and carried off a full load of pigs. Sheriff Will Johns was alerted at 2 am by North’s wife, then a second tip came from a resident on the road to Kansas City about the truck passing with the hogs. The theft is believed aimed toward Kansas City.
