Chief Issues a Warning About Dogs Running Loose
Police were called at 6 30 last evening to take a dog to the veterinarian for observation after it bit a child in the 400 block on Elm street in North Lawrence. Three other persons have been bitten by dogs recently, including two female dogs with young pups reported by a veterinarian as disease free. The quarantine in Douglas and Lawrence counties allows dogs to run only under supervision, with about 50 dogs disposed of in Lawrence since it began. Chief C A Bliesner warned owners not to ignore the measure and that dogs found roaming will be picked up and disposed of.
