Opposes repeal and favors liberalized wines in Prohibition debate
Washington June 8 AP Major A V Dalrymple prohibition administrator told the house ways and means committee he is unalterably opposed to repealing the 18th amendment but supports liberalization of wine laws. He urged passage of the Lea bill to legalize naturally fermented wines up to 12 percent alcohol by volume and tax the beverage, predicting 50 to 100 million dollars in new annual revenues. He cited reduced bootlegging from 3.2 beer and argued broader liberalization would improve enforcement nationwide.
