NextEra to host second meeting on West Gardner Solar

NextEra Energy Resources, seeking to place part of a 3000 acre solar project in Douglas County, will hold a second public gathering this week at Abe and Jake's Landing. The event, a family fun day from 4 to 8 pm, lacks a formal presentation and will share a project update and answer questions.

Volunteer work day at Little Prairie Community Garden

As part of United Way of Kaw Valley Day of Giving Lawrence's Roger Hill Volunteer Center hosts a volunteer project at Little Prairie Community Garden in Peterson Park. Volunteers will plant harvest weed and mulch Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign-ups at volunteer douglascounty.org. The garden is part of the Common Ground urban agriculture program serving four counties after a United Way merger.
