Topeka Decker Oilers edge Hawks 7 6 on steal home
In a tight game at Municipal Park the Topeka Decker Oilers beat the Lawrence semi pro Hawks 7 to 6. Bert Coffman stole home in the sixth after Bob Shirley winded up for the pitch with two away. Coffman led Topeka five for five driving in three runs as Ed Coffman added a two run double in the fourth inning to tilt the scoring. The Oilers benefited from five Hawks errors while Lawrence built its early 5 unearned runs in the first. A late Hawks charge fell short as Shirley and Bradley shutout the final innings.
