Lawrence musician Clyde Bysom remembered as longtime community figure
Clyde Leon Bysom, a Lawrence clarinet and saxophone player with a 85 year musical tenure, died June 1 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He began performing in 1929 at age 12 in South Park gazebo and played in about 50 bands over eight decades. His daughter Terri plans a memorial concert at the same gazebo. Kansas University music educator Bob Foster called him a strong instrumental presence in Lawrence.
