Sparse opening for summer farmers market in Lawrence

About eight produce growers offered goods at the inaugural Saturday market sponsored by the Downtown Lawrence Association. DLA president Win Campbell called the crowd a nice beginning and said attendance was fair. Earl Van Meter from the extension service answered gardening questions as Campbell planned future appearances. Markets run 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday in the municipal lot at Eighth and Vermont, weather permitting, with a small vendor fee to cover promotion.

Girl Released After Traffic Accident Injuries
