Youth Held After Burglary At Traders Pawn Shop
A 16 year old boy from Portland Oregon was detained by Lawrence police after a burglary at Traders Pawn Shop on 15 KE. 8th St. He was found with a bag containing guns and shells and is to be turned over to Portland authorities. He had been staying with his sister in Lawrence. Two other thefts were reported: a motorcycle valued at 100 dollars stolen from 1300 Ohio St and an amplifier worth 380 dollars taken from the Red Dog Inn at 642 Mass St.

Harvest Delayed In Douglas County By Rains
The county's early wheat harvest is delayed about two weeks due to heavy rains totaling more than 7 inches. ASC office manager Eben Farley says harvest may start after June 18 if fields dry enough, with some wheat still damp. Last year drought held up the crop, ending with far below normal rainfall.

May Building Records Permit Totals Hit New High
