Learned Hall Named for KU Engineering Leader
Kansas University named its $1.9 million engineering building Learned Hall in honor of Stanley Learned of Bartlesville Ohio a 1924 engineering graduate and former Phillips Petroleum CEO. Chancellor Wescoe announced the tribute at the commencement supper saying Learned exemplifies integrity loyalty and service to family business and the university. The two story building west of Nai smith Road houses civil electrical and mechanical and aerospace engineering.

The University of Kansas announces the Edmund P Learned Professorship in Business funded by Stanley and Mrs. Learned of Bartlesville Oklahoma bringing KU endowed chairs to thirteen. Edmund P Learned a KU alumnus and Harvard professor will receive income from the 100000 endowment plus his state salary.

About 60 Kansas University seniors including five from Lawrence were initiated into Phi Beta Kappa in a noon ceremony at the Kansas Union. A luncheon followed for initiates and their families.
