The St Louis Cardinals snapped a losing streak with a 10-9 win over Cincinnati on Stan Musials 11th inning homer. Lindy McDaniel notched the win, Ray Sadecki was fined, and Cincinnati chased starter Sadecki early. Kansas City routed Minnesota 4-3 behind Norm Siebern key hits as John Wyatt earned his fourth win. Cardinals also traded Alex Grammas and Don Landrum to Chicago for Bobby Gene Smith and Daryl Robertson, with Cal Maxwell set to join Tulsa.

Kansas University football assistant Don Fambrough underwent gall bladder removal surgery Tuesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The operation was a success and Fambrough was resting comfortably. He is expected to stay in hospital about 10 days and then recover at home for several weeks.
Due to street construction South Park baseball games are moved to a new site. Regular schedule resumes next week with South Park League at Lawrence High School this week. City League games at Woodlawn Park Tuesday nights and Lincoln Park for other night games. North Park under construction but nearing completion. Light poles moved south, diamond relocated, some work remains.
Cuban lightweight contender Doug Vaillant defeated Dave Charnley in a ten round London bout at Wembley Stadium. Vaillant, from Miami, Florida, delivered a dominant performance to improve his prospects for a title shot against Carlos Ortiz, while Charnley held European British and British Empire titles.
