Lawton minister attacked again in Oklahoma
Lawton Oklahoma June 6 investigation into reports that Rev Thomas J Irwin former pastor of the first Presbyterian church was attacked and beaten while motoring near Lawton last night will be pursued. County Attorney Fletcher Riley said officials have little information besides what morning papers reported. Earlier advisories said Irwin was found at a house nine miles from Lawton in weakened condition with parts of his clothing torn. Irwin had resigned amid charges of conduct unbecoming a minister and was to face an arson preliminary hearing postponed to Thursday. He had claimed kidnapping by three men tied and dumped in a ditch before being rescued. He blamed a faction of his congregation for the incident and for fires at his church.
