City suffers heavy tree damage from weekend storm in Lawrence
Lawrence sustained extensive tree damage as winds up to 60 mph swept through the city and northeast Kansas. Horticulture and Forestry Manager Crystal Miles said more than 100 city trees were damaged and the city logged over 80 service calls since cleanup began Saturday. Crews from streets utilities and parks and recreation worked to clear debris in city parks sidewalks and rights of way including South Park and Oak Hill Cemetery. City Spokesman Porter Arneill noted details in an email.
