Carpenter bees can damage homes in peak mating season
Carpenter bees are active in spring and may cause cosmetic to structural damage when multiple generations nest in wood. Distinguish them from bumble bees by shiny hairless abdomens, ground nesting versus wood nesting, and solitary behavior. To control, locate entry holes, replace infested wood, paint, and use appropriate insecticides only per label. Contact Jennifer Smith, Douglas County Extension Agent Hort for guidance.
