Stovall Stays Solo In Kansas Attorney General Race
The possible Democratic challenger to Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall has decided not to run. State Rep. Jim Garner filed for re election to his Coffeyville House seat, leaving Stovall as the only candidate for attorney general. Stovall, a Republican, drew extensive publicity in the past four years, while party leader Brett Cott noted the race remains tough. A 4 year old boy, Dalton Ray Farlow, died after a garage fire in Wichita caused by spilled gasoline and a possible ignition from a water heater.

Embezzler accused of buying clothes with stolen million
Anita Guidry faced a federal jury on 13 counts linked to embezzling from Wichita Sheet Metal Inc. and diverting about $2.6 million. Prosecutors say she moved funds through 11 bank accounts, wrote 289 checks, and spent over $1 million on clothes while attempting to hide shortages in inventory. Her lawyer argues embezzlement is not a federal crime and attributes the spending to a clothes obsession rooted in childhood.
