Local Youth Drowns In a Missouri Lake
Eugene Merkel, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robinson of Maple St, drowned Saturday afternoon in a Camdenton lake during a family vacation. He swam near the docks and was caught in an undertow. body found about 150 feet from the swimming spot. Born July 14, 1938, in Mound City, he lived in Lawrence 15 years and was a junior at Lawrence High School. Funeral set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home, Rev. J. P. Reid presiding. burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
