Rainfall boosts hope for drought-hit Kansas farmers
Kermit Kalb and his son Stephen kept indoors on Friday as mud and high creek levels stalled field work on their northeast Franklin County farm. They welcomed 3.25 inches of rain over Thursday and Friday, noting moisture after a long dry spell. The season's storms follow 2012 drought impacts, with Lawrence totaling over 6 inches for May and 14 inches so far in 2013, well above the drought-affected year.
