Meneeley lawyers face conflict claim in perjury case
Shawnee County Sheriff David Meneley may have his attorney replaced after Dist Atty Joan Hamilton filed a petition arguing Topeka lawyer William Bork should step aside due to past representation of a former deputy in similar circumstances. Bork denies any conflict as Meneley faces two felony perjury counts tied to remarks about a deputy's cocaine problem and a 1996 drug evidence case. A separate petition from the attorney general seeks Meneley's ouster over alleged misconduct in office. The panel overseeing both matters has yet to rule.
