A Wichita Police Department led program will erase gang tattoos for community service work once a laser system arrives from Denver. Dr. Mike Stevens of Cypress Aesthetics purchased a $110,000 multi color tattoo removal laser to serve participants, with sessions varying by tattoo size and location. The effort echoes 1999’s Operation Fresh Start, which removed about 1,300 teen tattoos before ending when dermatology support disappeared. Lt John Speer initiated the program, with Joan Moore aiding Stevens in coordinating participation.
