Cedar Bluff Reservoir praised on conservation tour
Former Kansas governor Mike Hayden joined officials on a Conservation Tour at Cedar Bluff Reservoir in Trego County. The lake now covers over 6000 acres and is up to 35 feet deep after years of drought and irrigation cuts. Hayden called the site a crown jewel and noted the state acquired water worth 20 million dollars for about 400 thousand. The visit highlighted funding and access concerns from cabin owners and the transfer of land under the Bureau of Reclamation, with officials stressing preservation and economic potential for the region.
