King of Texas retells Lear in a Western after the Alamo
Patrick Stewart stars as John Lear, a Texas rancher, in TNTs King of Texas a Western riff on King Lear set after the Mexican American War. Susannah Lauren Holly schemes with sister Claudia and Lear disowns the dutiful daughter. Roy Scheider as Westover faces similar folly. The prosaic adaptation bids sharp editing and strong performances amid a sprawling TV movie landscape.

Undercover Brother film review notes mixed humor and race satire
A first time director and Eddie Griffin star in a satire that aims to spoof 70s culture and race dynamics. The BROTHERHOOD battles The Man in a sci fi spy tone with Dave Chapelle and Chappelle delivering the sharpest bits. The reviewer compliments bits but says the script and direction lack flair while praising a stronger comic energy from the cast.
