A Wednesday afternoon blaze behind the Hobby Lobby at 1801 W 23rd in Lawrence involved a semi trailer loaded with merchandise. Six fire engines battled flames for about 20 minutes while evacuations affected more than 25 people. Fire officials say the cause is under investigation with smoke and water damage reaching much of the store. The building was closed for the day with unclear reopening. Public safety personnel secured the area along Ousdah Road.
