Walleye tale fuels world taxidermy honors

Alan Gaston of Eagan Minnesota rose from a December 1983 ice fishing double catch to win three awards at the fourth World Taxidermy Championships hosted by the Kansas Association of Taxidermists. He earned best of show gold, a 500 prize, and top master division wins for warm water fish skin and overall master category. His 1983 second walleye earned top honors two years earlier, with Gaston crediting TLC for the restoration.

Soviets threaten to scrap SALT II

Park deaths spark debate on city park patrols

AT&T unions call for nationwide strike over contract

The Communications Workers of America orders a 155000 member nationwide strike after last minute talks fail. The union rejects a 5 percent three year offer and union officials say the contract would let AT&T shift manufacturing overseas.
