The American dollar tumbled to fresh lows across European exchanges led by heavy selling in Frankfurt. Gold climbed to a record around 119 dollars an ounce in London and Zurich, with Paris and Zurich also reporting sharp dollar declines amid broad market nervousness after Ascension Day.
United Rubber Workers members in Columbus Ohio will vote this week on a new three year contract with B F Goodrich Co to end a 25 day strike. The tentative agreement raises wages up to 80.8 cents an hour over three years and includes job security provisions plus enhanced pensions and insurance benefits.
Helen Dunlop, long-time secretary to the late Sen. Edward V. Long, was removed as executrix by Judge J Overton Fry of Pike County Probate Court citing conflict of interest. The widow Florence Long challenges the will and has filed a $3.25 million suit accusing Dunlop of alienation of affections. Estate valued between 700000 and 2 million with granddaughter heir.
Bruce W. Humphrey of Lawrence will coordinate the 1973 Public Employment Program at Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka this summer. The program will employ about 300 Topeka youths aged 14 to 21 across city county and state agencies.
