Douglas County voters face new polling places due to construction
About 15 000 Douglas County residents have new polling locations this year, largely because Lawrence school buildings hosting elections are under renovation. County Clerk Jamie Shew notes the shift could affect turnout and urges voters to verify locations via the county elections site using name and birth date. Additional precinct splits aim to ease long lines in western Lawrence. Voters must bring government issued photo ID, though provisional ballots are available if identification is provided before the Aug 11 canvass.
