Ousting Eagleton Would Backfire Says Houtchens
Missouri Democratic chair Delton L. Houtchens warned removing Sen. Tom Eagleton from the Democratic presidential ticket would backfire by arousing national public opposition to the party. He urged George McGovern to stand firm as Eagleton faced pressure from national leaders.
