A shipment of 25 cent Bob White quail from the state hatchery in Pittsburg arrived this morning and was released on Douglas County farms. Twenty five club members received the birds and placed them where cover and water are abundant. Owners agreed to nest the farms for a year to prevent hunting and allow hunting after that. The state paid about 1.30 per quail. Dan Ramey directs the hatchery and aims to produce 20,000 quail this summer. A second shipment is expected soon.
