KU research center wins 14.5 million in federal funds

The KU Transportation Research Institute gains 14.5 million from a six year federal transportation bill approved by the House and Senate. The funds will expand cross disciplinary transportation research led by KU engineers including durable bridge materials, alternative fuel buses, vehicle emissions sensing, fuel cell work, energy efficient vehicles and intelligent systems. Researchers say the grant strengthens KU as a national resource and may be renewed with future highway legislation.
