Texas Maine Vermont low level waste pact approved by House
The House passed the Texas Maine Vermont low level radioactive waste disposal compact 305 to 117, paving the way for Senate and presidential action. The accord, urged under a 1980 law, would send waste from nuclear plants and hospitals to Texas in exchange for 25 million dollars to Maine and Vermont. Meanwhile a Phoenix area accident left a boy trapped under a car until four witnesses lifted the vehicle and freed him. Abraham Villa, 13, later remained in fair condition after initial injuries.
