Hesper Heights funding shortfall threatens road quality
Douglas County faces rising maintenance costs for the Hesper Heights road district funded by 42 property owners. The district collected about 29 thousand dollars plus 19 thousand from the local township last year, while actual upkeep ran to 59.7 thousand dollars. A proposed extra 446 dollars per year per property owner would be required to cover costs, on top of 242 already paid, unless thinner asphalt fixes patch the worst areas. The commission kept current contributions for this year and discussed a possible resolution to restrict heavy trucks within the district to extend road life.
