Anti abortion group eyes moves in Kansas special session
Gov Brownback sets Kansas Legislature for a Sept 3 special session to address part of the Hard 50 sentencing law. Mark Gietzen, head of Kansas Coalition for Life, says votes exist to pass a fetal heartbeat abortion ban and urges lawmakers to revisit the issue during the session. Federal courts blocked similar laws in North Dakota and Arkansas this year. The Kansas Legislature passed a broad anti abortion measure this year, though not a fetal heartbeat ban.
