Seized breeding operation dogs find help at humane society
Fifteen malnourished dogs from a southeast Kansas breeding operation were turned over to the Lawrence Humane Society after a Department of Agriculture inspection found 54 animals living in filth. The dogs undergo medical rehab and behavior assessments before adoption. The seizure included 44 dogs, two cats, and three kittens. five animals remained with the owner. The society, though not within Douglas County jurisdiction, offered support for life-saving care.

Ex Riley County detective drops suit after firing
