Douglas County reports more than two thirds of 101 tax delinquent tracts were redeemed leaving 33 eligible for sale at the courthouse. Delinquent taxes total 120 147 with current dues on remaining tracts 28 829.25 plus 23 per tract costs. Most remaining tracts are in Lawrence with one in Marion Township Baldwin and Lecompton.
District Judge Frank Gray named appraisers Larry A. Hatfield Glenn Kappelman and Clarence A Miller to value land in a condemnation suit filed July 20 by the City of Lawrence for the Kansas Highway Commission. The 14 Iowa street tracts lie north of 23rd to the city limit. None of the landowners appeared at the hearing.
