Convict Thiel Weeks Escapes Farm Digging Potatoes
A group of sheriff and city police, plus about 10 state penitentiary guards from Lansing, hunted Thiel Weeks a 33 year old convict who fled the Miller farm northeast of Lawrence while digging potatoes last week. The search south of Eudora and around Edgerton found no trace of Weeks. A man matching Weeks description was seen asking for water at the Maurice B Starr home five miles south of Eudora on Monday night prompting a track to the Starr property. The pursuit ran from 7 30 pm to nearly 2 am with no success. Weeks was serving a 25 year term for second degree murder and was among 50 penitentiary prisoners digging potatoes on the Miller farm shore when he escaped.
