Next Tiger Woods contender rises from Pinehurst youth golf
The U S Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst features nearly 1000 hopefuls ages 4 to 12, including Meechai Padang of Thailand and Haylin Harris of Indiana, as organizers say the field could produce golf’s next star. The weeklong event moves to three Pinehurst courses with shorter layouts to suit young players, while veterans like Dakoda Dowd and Tiger Woods niece Cheyenne Woods loom in memory. Padang, who settled in North Augusta, S C, seeks to prove his early dominance wasn’t a peak, and Harris, labeled Arizona’s top Class of 2017 recruit, has a poster from Zona’s women’s team.
